Official Starting weight = 196.6lbs (eeeeekkkkkk!).

Not the heaviest I've been, but still horrendous!

I've planned my food out for Day 1, let's hope I can make it through the first day!

The Diet

Tomorrow I will do my first weigh-in. I am going to be following the Slimming World plan (a UK based programme). I have all the info and I'm ready to go.

My goals are as follows (taking it slowly but surely and allowing for those weeks when you gain/don't lose!):

May 29th (magazine wedding shoot) goal (6wks & 4d away) = 184.6lb (-12lb)

September 20th (my birthday) goal (22wks & 6d away) = 166.6lb (-30lb)

December 25th goal (36wks & 4d away) = 155lbs (-41.6lb)

Once I get to 155lbs, I'll reassess my goals as I'm more concerned about the size of clothes I'm wearing than what the scales say anyway! I want to be around size 12 all over (EU 38). I am currently a 16/18 on my largest parts (but with a comparatively teeny tiny 31in waist!!!! Makes buying clothes a nightmare!). 155lbs would give me a BMI of 25, which for my build will probably be just right :-)!

I'm off now to enjoy my last bit of indulgence for a while (well, it is Easter Sunday!). See you tomorrow with weigh-in no.1!

What this blog is about & why!

Dear Reader,

Well here I am beginning my blog of what I hope to be a successful weightloss journey.

I have, like many women, been on a diet (or fallen off one), for most of my life. I am currently 37 years old and I have a hobby that I'm passionate about and want to take to the next level. The hobby? Ballroom dancing - I LOVE it, and I really want to start doing amateur competitions. I've only been dancing since September 2006, but I just so happen to be good at it. I wish I'd found that out 20 years ago, but ho-hum!

I am desperately searching for a partner to do competitions with (so if you are a guy who lives in or near The Hague, aged 30-45 and can dance ballroom well, please get in touch if you are interested in partnering me!).

The reason I am embarking on yet another, and I hope final, diet is to get my dance teacher to take my desire to do competitions seriously. I know she thinks I'm way too fat (she hasn't said so to my face, but she said it to the guy I currently dance with in class!). She said she'd help find me a partner but hasn't, and I know this is the reason why (unfair and ridiculous, but that's how she is).

We have only a couple of dance classes left this season, so my goal is to come back at the start of next season (in September), significantly thinner. Maybe then I'll get taken seriously (and if I can bring a partner too, then so much the better!).

Well, that's why I'm doing this. I hope to blog at least once a week (more often where possible), documenting the trails and tribulations, successes and not so successful aspects of this journey. I don't imagine it will be easy, but few things ever are! The main reason I struggle with diets is my job - I am a self-confessed sugar addict and that's the field I work in! This is me & what I do:
